Meredith Skillman
is an Associate Candidate of the Appraisers Association of America with over ten years of professional experience working in commercial art galleries. Meredith received her BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a double major in Art History and American History, concentrating in Civil War History and the History of the American South. She completed her MA in Contemporary Art from Sotheby’s Institute, London. Meredith is Registrar at Gail Severn Gallery, Ketchum, ID and serves her local community as Committee Member for the City of Ketchum Arts Commission.

Meredith’s background in art history has equipped her with the knowledge necessary to identify works and place them within a larger art historical context. Her educational background, coupled with expertise gained through the writing of valuations and condition reports for gallery clients, has allowed her to develop the proper art lexicon for describing and identifying works. Meredith’s experience in the gallery sector has provided an understanding of the art market and of artists and their work.
Through her years of art handling and condition reporting, Meredith is well-versed in the identification, proper handling, and inherent nature of the various mediums. By serving gallery clients for over ten years Meredith is sensitive to a collector’s needs when assessing, organizing, and valuing a collection. She completed the Appraisers Association of America’s Comprehensive Appraisal Studies Program (CASP) in July of 2020.
Meredith successfully completed a 15-hour course and examination on the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), the Congressionally-recognized set of appraisal standards promulgated by The Appraisal Foundation. Completed the full course with examination on July 2020 with biannual updates. Currently effective through July 2022.
